About the Role

Central Surgery has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis for 15-16 hours per week, worked over 3 days, at both Central, our main surgery, and at Thorpe, our branch surgery. 

The medical receptionist will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties including:

  • supporting our patients and the clinical team;
  • meeting and greeting our patients in a friendly, approachable, and welcoming manner;
  • booking appointments, including signposting patients to the most suitable appointment for them;
  • dealing with patient queries on the telephone and face-to-face;
  • liaising, and building relationships, with all departments and external organisations in accordance with current policies and guidelines;
  • communicating effectively and efficiently.
About the Candidate
We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service and have the following attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner;
  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times;
  • Customer Service experience is essential for this role;
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations;
  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet";
  • Be team player;
  • Act with integrity and lead by example;
  • Understanding of the importance of adhering to our policies and protocols including patient confidentiality
  • Strong IT and administration skills;
  • Knowledge of SystmOne is desirable;
  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
