About Us

The successful applicant will be warmly welcomed to our professional and caring team at The Tollgate Practice in Stanway.  We are an independent, medium-sized practice, serving a patient population of just over 9,000.  We work from our modern, purpose-built premises in Stanway, Colchester, and pride ourselves on our commitment not only to our patients, but also to the welfare and progression of our staff.

We understand that it can be rather daunting starting a new job and, therefore, our supportive team will always be on hand to provide guidance and assistance if required. We have a full compliment of staff including 2 GP partners, 7 (long-term) locum GPs, 1 advanced nurse practitioner, 3 practice nurses and 2 health care assistants.  We also have two pharmacists and a full team of ARRS staff to complete our team.  We have 2 GP registrars training at the practice at all times, and their support and guidance is provided by Dr Abeysundara, our senior partner. The team is managed by a practice manager, a deputy practice manager and an administration manager, who are always on hand to assist the smooth running of the practice.  We have an 'open-door' policy and a keenness to assist our team to progress and diversify their career path.  Free parking, NHS pension and NHS discounts are just some of the benefits of working for our team.

Abbey Field Medical Centre and East Hill Surgery are our PCN colleagues and we work collaboratively on many projects. The successful candidate can be assured that they will be joining a forward-thinking, proactive team with patient and staff care at the very core.
