About the Role
Church Hill Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join their team on a full or part-time basis, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to both the clinical and practice management teams. You will act as a point of contact for all communications between the patients, relatives, clinicians and outside agencies.
 
The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Audio, copy typing and word processing for all GPs, health professionals and management, as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc in an accurate and quality manner
  • Receiving incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries
  • Responsible for the Electronic Referral System
  • Retrieving medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurance records
  • Handling patient/practice queries regarding hospital appointments and treatments confidentially
  • Ensuring any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with according to practice policy and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately
  • Liaising and arranging meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required
  • Maintaining the computer clinical system in an accurate and secure manner
  • Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information when required
  • Performing any reasonable administrative tasks as requested by the practice or deputy practice manager.
About the Candidate

You will have the following skills and experience:
  • Strong audio and touch-typing skills
  • Administrative experience and good organisation skills
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system
  • Experience in read-coding and work-flowing clinical documentation
  • Ability to 'think on your feet'
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach
  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times
  • Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.

About Us
Church Hill Surgery is a lovely GP practice, with very supportive team members who will help the successful candidate as they settle into their role.  Our practice cares for a patient population of approximately 4,500 and we have been rated 'Good' by the CQC. We operate SystmOne clinical software.
