  • Support to become a GP partner with mentoring from the partners.
A comprehensive, 6-week induction including:

  • Spending time with each of the practice staff to learn how the practice and system works to learn how to fit in.A buddy system whereby you will be linked in with a senior GP at the practice with protected time booked out of your rotas for regular mentoring/de-briefing meetings. Linking you in with the active Milton Keynes GP forum who hold regular learning sessions and meetings.
  • The opportunity to design your own sessions – allowing you the flexibility to chose when your admin time is booked.
  • 6 weeks' annual leave and 1 week’s study leave (whole time equivalent) pro rata if part time.
  • Opportunities to be involved in the development of new services at the practice. We are planning on building a new and much larger surgery on a plot we have secured which will allow us to provide an increased number of services including outreach consultant clinics which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape.
  • Opportunities for developing a specialist interest.
  • We believe ongoing training is vital and encourage staff development and as such we are building links with our local universities to help train our staff as well as to offer student placements which would offer the opportunity to develop your supervision and teaching skills is this is an area of interest.
  • We are shortly about to become a GP Training Practice and are in discussion with the nearby Buckingham Medical School about accepting medical students.

The practice population is expanding because of new developments in the town and villages we serve which will see our list size grow from just under 9,000 patients to around 12,000 over the next few years.

We have a strong relationship with our Patient Participation Group, Town Council and local charity, Olney is Kind, who raise money to support the surgery.

We are proud of our current CQC rating which is good with an outstanding rating for responsiveness.

Our multidisciplinary team is made up of a range of very experienced clinicians including GP partners, a salaried doctor, advanced nurse practitioners, a clinical pharmacist, a women’s health nurse, chronic disease nurses, treatment room nurses and HCA’s, a physiotherapist and a social prescriber who take a lot of work from the GPs.
