About the Role
Green Elms Health Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join our nursing team a part-time basis for 30 hours per week. 
This important role will support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education. 
 

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake new patient health checks.
  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height, weight and BMI, recording findings accurately.
  • Carry out annual HCA YOC PT 1 diabetic checks in line with guidance.
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
  • Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
  • Undertake suture and staple removals. 
  • Carry out ECGs as requested.
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed.
  • When trained, undertake venepuncture. 
  • Provide support during minor operations as required.
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Maintain surgical equipment.
  • Complete home visits as required for patients requiring any of the above.

About the Candidate
If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:
 
  • Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards. 
  • Phlebotomy certification desirable. 
  • Ear syringing certification desirable.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Experience of working with the general public within primary care or another healthcare setting essential. 
  • Confidence and competence in all HCA duties (as listed above) required for the post
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
