About the Role
Grimston Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic paramedic to join our practice. This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 18.75 hours per week for 2.5 days - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
 
The main responsibilities are;
  • Assessing and treating patients in their own place of residence and those attending surgery.
  • Triage and treat patients, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team and MDT and/or organise admission to hospital if required.
  • Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and acknowledges practitioners’ own limitations
  • Advise patients on maintaining health and wellbeing and refer to other team members as need arises.
  • Communicate at all levels within the multidisciplinary team ensuring effective service is delivered.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous healthcare records appropriate to the consultation.
  • Ensure evidence-based care is delivered at the highest standards ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Work within local policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the audit process, evaluation and implementing plans and practice change in order to meet patient need.
  • Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiently of the team and work colleagues.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and work with other team members to ensure they are protected
About the Candidate
If you are an experienced emergency care practitioner (ECP)/paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.  You will have the following skills and experience: 
  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care.
  • Have completed Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider.
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients.
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently.
  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines.
  • To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively.
  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working.
  • Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.

We are a dispensing practice situated in a lovely rural area of West Norfolk. We care for 5,300 patients, with a passion to deliver patient access to general practice we would want for ourselves, our families and our friends. Via our PCN, we are also supported by first contact physiotherapists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, social prescribers and mental health nurses.
