About the Role

The Colte Partnership have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and pro-active qualified practice nurse to join the team based at Rowhedge and University of Essex Medical Centre. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 15 hours per week. 

Working in an experienced multi-disciplinary team, the practice nurse will have the ability to carry out the following:

  • Specific condition management (ie diabetes, asthma etc)
  • ECGs
  • Wound care and dressings
  • Immunisations
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Child immunisations
  • Contraception
  • Cervical cytology
  • Removal of sutures/clips
  • Stock management
  • Infection control

Rowhedge offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in student health alongside general practice. Rowhedge is a split site practice with a campus-based health centre and a dispensing village practice and is a pilot site for Pride in Practice.  The practice consists of an established team of 4 partners and 5 salaried GP’s.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  •  Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.  The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.

 

About Us

In June 2017 the Colte Partnership was formed consisting of 9 local practices across Colchester and Tendring caring for approx. 95,000 patients.

We also work as two collaborative Primary Care Networks (PCN’s) which span across Colchester and Tendring:

  • Riverside Medical Centre & Ardleigh Surgery
  • Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre & Rowhedge Medical Centre
  • Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre

There is a wide socio-economic and demographic served within this area which will provide an interesting and varied case mix. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.
