About the Role

Highlands Surgery has an opportunity for a prescription clerk to join our busy prescribing team, at the heart of our patient care service.  This role is offered on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week to be worked over 3-4 days.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned within 72 hours. This includes checking emails and tasks.
  • Responding to all queries and requests from patients, chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
  • Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in patient records.
  • Sending out medication review invites.
  • Organising blood tests (through ICE system) or blood pressure checks for patients, relevant to their prescribing needs.
  • General ad hoc administration work.
  • Keep up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position.

About the Candidate

To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate will:

  • Possess experience of working in a busy, environment.
  • Be flexible, with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate good team working and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an excellent standard of patient care. 
 General practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.
