About the Role

Due to the changes in the ARRS Scheme to introduce General Practitioners, North Watford PCN are looking to expand our team by seeking to employ a newly qualified General Practitioner to join our team for 4-8 sessions per week (2-4 days).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking Primary Care Network (PCN) and become an integral part of a diverse clinical team delivering care to our 25,000+ registered patients.

 

Main duties will include;

  • Perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting.
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
  • Be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.
  • Provide counselling and health education.
  • Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collect data for audit purposes.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Prescribe in accordance with the ICB prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications:
  • Newly qualified within the last 2 years who has not yet held a substantive position post qualification
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list
and skills, including:
  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.

About Us

We are a small innovative PCN based in North Watford and one of the practices is renowned for their excellent teaching reputation. We have progressed well with the national recruitment agenda and have already recruited a GP, clinical pharmacist, social prescriber, paramedic,  ANPs and a mental health link worker.
