About the Role

Embrace Medical Centre in Ipswich are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a locum practice nurse to join our friendly and expanding team for a 12 month fixed term contract. This is offered on a full or part-time basis, days and hours can be discussed at interview.

We are seeking an experienced practice nurse to contribute to our ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding primary health care to our patient population.

Main duties of the role include:

Providing clinical care in the treatment room, including wound care, injections, and immunisations.
Supporting the management of long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.
Performing routine health checks, screenings, and vaccinations.
Working collaboratively with the lead practice nurse, GPs, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Contributing to the development and improvement of primary care services in response to increasing demand.

Please note, this position will involve working arrangements across Embrace Medical Centre and Martlesham Heath Surgery. As part of our joint partnership, both practices are operated by the same GP Partners and Management Team. The surgeries are located approximately 2 miles apart (around a 5-10 minute drive depending on traffic), ensuring close collaboration and easy access between sites.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:

Essential:

Bachelors degree in Nursing or an approved nursing qualification.
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Current professional registration and eligibility to practice in the UK.
Experience working in general practice or a primary care setting.
Excellent knowledge of core nursing practice and patient care principles.
Skilled in managing long-term conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension).
Experience providing immunisations, health checks, and routine treatment room procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
Ability to manage own workload and work autonomously under supervision.
Empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism in patient care.

Desirable:

Non-medical prescribing qualification (level 6 or 7) for health care professionals.
Additional qualifications in areas such as immunisation, wound care, or long-term condition management.
Specialism in areas such as, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes.
Experience with health promotion, patient education, and chronic disease management programs.
