About the Role

The New Folly Surgery in Ingatestone is currently looking to welcome an experienced locum clinical pharmacist for a maternity contract from mid April 2026 until April 2027. This will be a fixed term contract for 3 days a week – two days in surgery and one day working from home.
 
 The post holder will be responsible for the following:
  •  Clinically assessing and treating patients, using expert knowledge of medicines, for specific disease areas
  • Providing specialist expertise in the use of medicines and medicine information
  • Monitoring long term conditions
  • Managing medication reviews and DMARD protocols
  • Liaising with GP’s to ensure the monitoring of patient medication
  • Document management
  • Discharge summaries
  • Medicine reconciliations as well as other clinical document management letters

About the Candidate

You will be a qualified pharmacist with strong experience within primary care and have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Completion of a degree in pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience including primary care and at least one other field in pharmacy (community or hospital)
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and liaising with all members of the practice clinical and non-clinical staff for the collective benefit of the patients
  • Specialist experience in the management of long term conditions asthma, COPD and diabetes in particular
  • Awareness of the breadth of common acute and long-term health conditions and be able to demonstrate general pharmaceutical skills and knowledge in core areas
  • Experience of planning, managing, monitoring, and advising patients on general pharmaceutical areas and assisting patients with medication reviews
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing and have a strong understanding of the importance of confidentiality

About Us

We are a medium sized, 7100 patient list sized GMS GP surgery in the heart of Ingatestone and one of 8 practices making up Brentwood Primary Care Network (PCN).  We are contracted to and work with NHS Mid & South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB).  We have an overall staff of 20 comprising 3 Partners and a salaried GP, a paramedic, a clinical pharmacist and a physician associate, a nursing team of three and a support team led and managed by our practice manager. We are a teaching and training practice for ARU.
