About the Role

Orchard House Surgery in Newmarket are seeking a salaried GP for up to 6 sessions a week, to join our friendly teaching and training practice for both Cambridge Medical Students and Bury St Edmunds GPSTP. Our salaried post is available now but we would be willing to wait for the right person.
 

The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as well as:

  • Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, repeat prescriptions and paperwork/reports and correspondence.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems.
  • Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Providing health education.
  • Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
  • Delivering enhanced services.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications:
 
  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list
and skills, including:
  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.

About Us

We are a 6-partner PMS practice with approx. 12,000 patients. We also employ 4 further salaried doctors and a part time MSK first contact practitioner.

The practice is one of three based in Newmarket that provides a high level of care to our patients in Newmarket and surrounding villages.
