About the Role

North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre are seeking a caring and proactive receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis to cover maternity leave. This will be fixed until 11th January 2027. This role involves working across both of our Chelmsford sites: North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre and our branch surgery, Beaulieu Healthcare Centre.

Working hours will be as follows;

Monday: 08:00 – 14:00
Tuesday: 08:00 – 14:00
Friday: 12.30 – 18:30
 

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Handle patient queries via phone, email, and in person
  • Assist the triage doctor as part of the triage team
  • Arrange home visits
  • Manage card and cash payments from patients
  • Oversee waiting lists and follow-up appointments
  • Support clinicians and staff with day-to-day tasks
Training and support will be provided with a comprehensive 3-week induction to ensure a smooth onboarding.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience, offers excellent communication skills, and has the following attributes:

  • Maintain a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Learn quickly and apply new processes effectively
  • Be confident using computers
  • Be fully flexible to cover annual leave and short-notice sick leave

About Us

North Chelmsford NHS Healthcare Centre is a SystmOne practice with a growing list size of over 17,000 patients. The practice has achieved a ‘Good’ CQC rating and has an excellent reputation amongst Chelmsford residents.  We are part of the Elizabeth Courtauld Partnership and are expanding with a new branch surgery opening in Beaulieu shortly.
