Practice Nurse

The Orsett Surgery is seeking an experienced practice nurse to join their friendly and supportive team on either a full-time or part-time basis, for a minimum 24 hours up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

In this important role, you will be working to improve patient health outcomes and deliver high quality care to our patients.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

• Chronic disease management (such as diabetes, asthma, COPD).
• Cervical smears.
• Routine/childhood immunisations.
• Wound care.
• Contraception.
• Removal of sutures/staples and clips.
• Travel advice and injections.
• ECGs.
• Blood pressure monitoring.
• Urinalysis.

We are looking for an experienced practice nurse to join our team.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:

• A relevant nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a general practice setting or equivalent.
• Current NMC registration with an active PIN; Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
• Interested applicants must have primary care experience.
• Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics / reviews and hold relevant certificates.
• Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care.
• Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
• Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions.

We are a busy practice based over two sites (Orsett Surgery and our branch surgery, King Edward Drive Surgery).  We provide services for approximately 7,500 patients over both sites. We have a happy, established team that consists of GPs, a nurse and a HCA and we are part of the Stanford-le-Hope Primary Care Network.  We use SystmOne as our clinical system and follow the Total Triage process via Accurx.
