As part of Suffolk Primary Care, which is a group of 8 GP practices across Suffolk, we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible Advanced Nurse Practitioner, with strong customer service skills, for Derby Road in Ipswich who look after over 18,700 patients.
Derby Road have 2 sites, based in the heart of Ipswich, with close travel links to the beautiful Suffolk countryside and the Suffolk coast.
The vacancy is for suitable for those seeking a part time or full time role. Flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays and occasional sickness.
We have an established team with a strong focus on customer service and communication. We would love to hear from candidates with GP surgery experience although we would also like to hear from those that can show flexibility and a range of transferable skills.
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be the first point of contact for patients with all types of health problems. They will make decisions and apply appropriate nursing interventions to the presenting patient in their own home or in the surgery. This will include initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will work autonomously but within the practices and NMC policies, protocols and guidelines, demonstrating safe clinical decision-making, high levels of critical thinking and holistic practice. The post-holder will be expected to act independently but will have access at all times to a GP for advice and support as necessary.
Duties will include:
- Work within professional boundaries to accurately examine and assess patients with an undifferentiated diagnosis, from a physiological, psychological and social perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.
- Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
- Seek advice and support from a senior clinician as appropriate to inform decision making around patient care.
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness appropriate to patient needs, and administer medication in accordance with PGD/ Independent Nurse Prescribing.
