About the Role

Newport Pagnell Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a permanent healthcare assistant to join the practice, to support the nursing team. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 30 hours per week. 

Working under the direct supervision of the lead nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. We would be happy to consider Nurse Associates for this role. 
 
The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:
 
  • Venepuncture and phlebotomy checks.
  • New patient health checks.
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations.
  • Providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Essential - these are a requirement to be considered for the role:

  • Confidence and competence in a health care environment
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a GP practice/primary care
  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
  • Strong clinical skills

Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is a large training practice based in the town of Newport Pagnell. We have two further remote sites, one in Willen and another in Newport Pagnell. Our three practices form The Bridge PCN.
