About the Role

Botesdale Health Centre as a fantastic opportunity for a professional, conscientious and highly effective practice nurse to join our friendly team on a part-time basis, for 28.5 hours per week, to assist in the care of practice patients, to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health and social care needs are met.
  • Administering of childhood immunisation and travel vaccination.
  • Managing people with long-term health conditions.
  • Assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatment/interventions and caring for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis.
  • Proactively identifying, diagnosing and managing treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition (as appropriate).
  • Diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug-and nondrug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
  • Working with patients in order to support compliance with, and adherence to, prescribed treatments.
  • Providing information & advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, medication regimes, side-effects & interactions.
  • Supporting patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care.

 

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
  • A registered prescriber.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.  The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.

About Us
We are a rural GMS 9900 patient surgery with 4 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs and a fantastic clinical and practice team with an on-site Dispensary. We are located in a modern, recently extended surgery with community nurses located on site as well as an X-ray suite and glorious surrounding countryside.
