About the Role

Grove Surgery in the busy market town of Thetford is recruiting a practice-based nurse. 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced general practice nurse to join our team. We are an energetic team, love to have fun, support charity work, we make each other laugh every day. Do you think this would suit you? 

We are seeking someone to work full time; we can be flexible with the days worked.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking health assessments, administering medication & treatments & performing diagnostic tests.
  • Providing & evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health & social care needs are met.
  • General health & well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
  • Managing & treating long-term conditions, in line with national & local policies.
  • Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national & practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Prioritising health problems & intervening appropriately.
  • Supporting & managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception & cervical cytology.
  • Implementing & participating in, vaccination & immunisation programmes.
  • Meeting the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry. 
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.  The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.

About Us

Grove Surgery has a list size of 13000 patients.  We are a friendly and dynamic surgery delivering excellent care to our patients and providing a positive and supporting working environment. 

We are a teaching practice and support the training of nursing associates, physician associates, medical students and GP registrars. We have a dedicated research unit.  We are leading the way in Norfolk for research.  There may be an opportunity to work in dual locations between research and the surgery.

We have an exceptional multi-disciplinary team including nurses, healthcare assistants, social prescriber, care-coordinator, paramedics, physician associates, clinical pharmacist, and pharmacy technician who work alongside our GPs to ensure our patients receive the best care available.
