Dispenser

Colne Medical Centre is looking for a qualified dispenser to join our friendly but busy team working in our dispensary. Colne Medical Centre has two branches and this role will be based at the Alresford branch.  The role is for 10-15 hours per week with the potential for additional hours in the future.  The post holder may, on occasion, be required to provide extra dispensary cover during holidays or sickness.

The role is dealing with all aspects of the dispensary including:

• Issue of repeats – paper and EPS from online/email/ paper requests.
• Monitoring of medication reviews
• Dealing with all patient enquiries and liaising with clinical team
• Preparing and dispensing medication
• NHS script and non NHS fees
• Endorsing prescriptions and preparing scripts for PPD submission
• Ordering, accepting deliveries and “checking in” of stock
• Cash up till
• Follow/monitor/write SOP’s (Standard operating Procedures) in line with good practice and DSQS (Dispensing Services Quality Scheme)

Interviews will be carried out for successful applicants on receipt of application, and we reserve the right to retract the advert if a suitable person is found before the end date.

This role requires the successful candidate to be qualified to NVQ level 2 in dispensing.  The successful candidate will also be able to deal sensitively with any patient complaints directing them to the dispensary manager, and to deal with outside agencies and ICB representatives where appropriate.  The person will have basic IT skills, good organisational skills and the ability to work alone with confidence. 

Training will be given on our clinical system (EMIS Web). 

The Colte Partnership was formed in 2017 and consists of 9 Branches across Colchester and Tendring caring for approx. 95,000 patients.

• Ambrose Avenue Group Practice, Riverside Medical Centre & Ardleigh Surgery
• Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre & Rowhedge Medical Centre
• Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre

You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.
