About the Role

Beccles Medical Centre is looking to welcome a qualified clinical pharmacist into our busy practice, to play a full and active role within our multi-disciplinary team.  The role is offered on a full- or part-time basis, on a fixed term, 12 month contract. 

The post-holder will be a pharmacist, who will support and work alongside a team of clinicians in general practice. In this role they will be supported by a senior clinical pharmacist who will assist the surgery's clinical lead to develop, manage and mentor the post-holder. The successful applicant will join a large, established team of prescribing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

This role would be suitable for a newly-qualified pharmacist, who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills in primary care. Since this role is available under the NHSE ARRS scheme, the post-holder would qualify for the primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway, an 18 month education and development programme provided by Health Education England. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing role. They will be involved with chronic disease management and will undertake clinical medication reviews to proactively manage patients with complex polypharmacy. The post-holder will provide primary support to general practice staff with regards to prescription and medication queries.
  
About the Candidate
You will be a qualified pharmacist and have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Master's degree in pharmacy (MPharm) (or equivalent)
  • Mandatory registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • In depth therapeutic & clinical knowledge & understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare
  • An appreciation of the nature of GPs and general practices
  • An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing
  • Gain acceptance for recommendations and influence/motivate/persuade the audience to comply with the recommendations/agreed course of action, where there may be significant barriers
  • Ability to communicate complex & sensitive information in an understandable form to a variety of audiences (e.g. patients)
  • Ability to plan, manage, monitor, advise and review general medicine optimisation issues, in core areas, for long term conditions
  • Recognise priorities when problem solving, identifying deviations from the normal pattern, and referring to seniors or GPs when appropriate
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing & negotiation skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to obtain & analyse complex technical information
  • Produce timely & informative reports
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through postgraduate diploma level or equivalent training/experience is desirable 
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience desirable
About Us
Beccles Medical Centre is an established GP surgery, in the Suffolk market-town of Beccles. The practice has a list-size of approximately 20,000 patients. We have 5 partners, and just over 100 additional staff. We are a GP training practice and also host other students studying at the nearby University of East Anglia. We work very closely with our PCN.
