About the Role

St James Surgery located in Clacton is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is to be based across two sites and is offered on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There are additional hours available for our PCN extended hours on a Saturday. 

Main duties of the role:
  • Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
  • Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Update patient health records.
  • Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
  • Act as a chaperone where required.
  • Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
  • New patient health checks.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following skills and experience:
 
  • Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
About Us
We are a large, friendly hardworking surgery with our main surgery located in Clacton and a branch in St Osyth. We are a EMIS Web practice with a patient list size of 14,400 patients.
