About the Role
Stanton Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a dispensary manager to work alongside our clinical services and operations/HR managers. The management team will also liaise regularly to look at ways to continually develop the practice in line with the partners' vision. Together the management team will oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, working closely with the two GP partners.

The post holder will ensure the provision of quick, efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients of Stanton Surgery, and to ensure effective financial control of the dispensary.  We are looking for a confident and personable manager to work alongside our clinical teams who will always strive to make a difference for the patients registered with us, and who is a team player. You will be responsible for managing the practice's busy dispensary.

We were one of the first dispensaries in the country to switch to using EPS rather than paper prescriptions, using Invatech's TITAN software. All dispensing processes are computerised, including our controlled drugs register for which we use software which links to TITAN to ensure no entries are missed. We have a BD Rowa dispensing robot with an automated 24 hour collection point to ensure the fast and smoothest possible service for patients.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing the dispensary staff.
  • Attendance at, and input to, partners’ and team meetings as appropriate.
  • Monthly checking the drug tariff for price and category changes, checking for new or
    discontinued drugs
and following up changes and dispensing incentives with drug company
    representatives where necessary
  • In association with the nominated partner, maintain and update the computerised Drug Directory, adding new drugs and monitoring patient repeats.
  • Liaise with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) medicines management team in relation to
prescribing incentive scheme or dispensary issues.
  • Sorting prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms and submitting prescriptions
monthly to the Prescription Pricing Authority (PPA); preparing vaccine list; dealing with
    prescriptions returned by the PPA.
  • Management of TITAN computer system and ongoing training and support for team.
Please see attached job description for further information.

About Us

We are a rural dispensing and training practice located in the village of Stanton, set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside close to Bury St Edmunds. We serve a stable population of approximately 5300 patients.  We work in modern purpose-built premises, which have recently been extended and provide a bright and airy setting in which to work. Our clinical system is SystmOne.  We are rated GOOD across all areas by CQC.

We are a two partner GMS practice. We offer a supportive happy environment, and last year we were approved as a GP training practice. We already have GP trainees working alongside us, and in the future we aim to host nursing students also.

We have a team of three nurses, and work closely with our PCN colleagues who visit the surgery weekly, such as a social prescriber, mental health link worker, primary mental health worker and physiotherapist. We are part of Blackbourne PCN which consists of four rural practices. A diabetes nurse specialist also visits monthly and holds a clinic at the practice. We have also recently recruited two urgent care practitioners.  Our reception and administrative teams provide excellent support to our clinical teams.

We actively encourage informal visits to meet our friendly team.  For further information or to arrange a visit, please contact [email protected]
