About the Role

Grove Surgery has an opportunity for an scanner/summarising administrator to join our busy practice support team and assist in the smooth delivery of excellent patient care. This role is offered on a part-time basis for 24 hours per week to work across 3 days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. 

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking a variety of administrative duties to support members of the practice team.
  • Data entry and read coding of relevant patient information and medical data into the clinical system.
  • Scanning patient information into computerised records, including medical documents, hospital records and letters, as necessary.
  • Allocating workflow for review by doctors or other health professionals.
  • Processing practice post and emails.
  • Registering new patients.
  • Covering reception, as and when required.
  • Handling enquiries efficiently.

 

About the Candidate

Applicants should have the following skills and experience:

  • An experienced administrator, with excellent IT, time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, working in a confidential and discreet manner.
  • Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as independently.
    • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times;
Desirable experience:
 
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficient in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system;
  • Experience in read-coding and work-flowing clinical documentation;
  • Primary care experience.

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Grove Surgery has a list size of 13000 patients and are a teaching practice supporting the training of nursing associates, physician associates, medical students and GP registrars.

We have a dedicated research unit and are leading the way in Norfolk for research. There may be an opportunity to work in dual locations between the research unit and surgery. 
 
We have an exceptional multi-disciplinary team including nurses, HCA's, a social prescriber, a care-coordinator, paramedics, physician associates, a clinical pharmacist, and pharmacy technician who work alongside our GPs to ensure our patients receive the best care available.
