About the Role
Are you a skilled and compassionate dental nurse looking to make a significant impact in the lives of patients with diverse needs?

Community Dental Services are looking for an advanced dental nurse to support the mobile dental team in the provision of dental care to children, young people and vulnerable adults. This is a full-time role, based on 37.5 hours a per week on a 18 month fixed term contract although part-time hours can be considered.

This post attracts a 'Golden Hello' payment of £5,000 applicable to new applicants taking a substantive post. £2,500 will be payable after the first month of employment and £2,500 will be paid after six months*(subject to CDS policy conditions and upon completion of successful probation period). We also offer relocation assistance of £8,000 (again subject to CDS policy conditions).

 
Main duties of the job:
  • Provide clinical support during procedures, including for undergraduates, dental nurse, and dental hygiene/therapy students.
  • Conduct dental nurse-led clinics, offering treatments within your extended scope of practice, including the application of topical fluoride varnish, taking intra and extra oral radiographs, and performing other advanced dental nurse procedures.
  • Assist with dental conscious sedation techniques and manage referrals efficiently.
  • Deliver clinical training and assessment of students and dental nurses, contributing to their ongoing professional development.
  • Engage in quality initiatives, audits, and clinical governance projects.
  • Lead dental nurse triage sessions and organize the fluoride varnish programme.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and manage urgent cases with appropriate triage.

About the Candidate
To be considered for the following, you will require:
  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • GDC registered.
  • NEBDN Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing or able to achieve the qualification within the first two years of employment.
  • NEBDN Certificates (or equivalent) in Topical Fluoride Application, Oral Health Instruction, Dental Radiology
  • Strong initiative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and competent keyboard skills. Knowledge of dental software is a plus (training provided).
