About the Role

Queens Park Surgery in Bedford has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week. 

The receptionist plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them to access the right services and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online and by telephone.

The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Greet and direct all patients to the practice.
  • Answer all calls, ensuring documented and redirected accordingly. 
  • Book in patients and visitors in line with practice appointments and visitors procedures.
  • Book, amend and cancel patient appointments. 
  • Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly. 
  • Ensure computerised appointment system is up-to-date.
  • Set-up of new patients onto the computer system (SystmOne).
  • Distribution of completed prescriptions

About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience, offers excellent organisational skills, and has the following qualifications, skills and experience: 
  • Good standard of education, including Maths & English.
  • IT skills, competent on systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • GP practice experience desirable.
  • Previous reception or customer service experience. 
  • NVQ Customer Service qualification an advantage. 
  • Able to work to deadlines, in a busy environment.

We are a very long-established practice working on two sites in Bedford, looking after 12,500 patients. We are also care taking another local practice in Bedford with a list size of 9,000 patients.  Bedfordshire is a great location and has a reputation for excellent schools, beautiful villages and countryside, close to Milton Keynes for shopping, and 35 minutes from London by train.
