As a general practice assistant, you’ll be based in one (or at most two) of our practices, playing a critical role in supporting our GPs and ensuring a positive care experience for the local community.

The main duties of this role will include:

  • Administrative support
    • Sort clinical correspondence, coordinate referrals, and book tests and follow-ups.
    • Extract key information from letters, accurately code patient data, and update records.
    • Help free up GP time by managing workflow and prioritising key tasks.
  • Basic clinical tasks
    • Assist with blood pressure checks, urine dipstick testing, ECGs, phlebotomy, and more.
    • Support GPs during immunisations or wound care.
    • Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients regarding procedures and care.
  • Coordination and liaison
    • Act as a vital link between GPs, other clinicians, external agencies, and patients.
    • Ensure seamless patient care across the network by liaising with hospital teams, social services, and community providers.
  • Patient-centred care
    • Treat every patient with respect, kindness, and confidentiality.
    • Direct patients to the most appropriate service or support within the PCN.
