About the Role

The Reynard Surgery are looking to welcome one part time dispenser for 25.5 hours per week, and one full time dispenser into our busy practice. Both roles will play a full and active role as part of small and friendly multi-disciplinary team and we can offer training to the right individual who demonstrates commitment.  
 
The main responsibilities of the role:
  • Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
  • Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
  • Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
  • Process hospital letters.
  • Process dossette boxes.
  • Manage ordering stock and stock control.
  • Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries.
  • Monitor patients’ exemption status.
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
  • Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.
You will need to be flexible and able to cover sickness and holidays. 

About the Candidate

If you are interested in a dispenser career or have previous experience and are looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you.
 
You will have the following skills and experience:
  • 3 GCSEs in Science, Maths and English or equivalent grade C or equivalent (minimum) to qualify for the training. 
  • Excellent clinical and medication knowledge.
  • Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting.
  • The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career.
  • The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making.
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach.
  • Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
