About the Role

Highlands Surgery has an opportunity for an administrator to join our busy administration team and assist in the smooth delivery of excellent patient care. This role is offered on a  part-time basis for 20 hours per week.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking a variety of administrative duties including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
  • Data entry and read coding of relevant patient information and medical data into the clinical system.
  • Scanning patient information into computerised records, including medical documents, hospital records and letters, as necessary.
  • Allocating workflow for review by doctors or other health professionals.
  • Processing practice post and emails.
  • Registering new patients.
  • Handling enquiries efficiently.

About the Candidate

Applicants should have the following skills and experience:

  • An organised and experienced administrator, with good IT and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Flexible in their approach to work, willing to support the team across different duties and shifts.
  • Ability to work efficiently and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
  • Primary care experience is desirable but not essential.

Highlands Surgery is an innovative, and forward-thinking practice based across two clinical sites. With a patient list size of 14,500, we are large enough to offer a diverse range of services while maintaining a supportive, close-knit team environment. We are proud to be a training and development-focused practice with a strong ethos around staff support and continuous improvement.

Our practice is led by three GP partners and supported by three salaried GPs, experienced long-term locums, four dedicated practice nurses, an advanced nurse practitioner (ANP), and an in-house pharmacist. We are also a key part of our Primary Care Network (PCN), offering access to services such as social prescribers, emergency care practitioners (ECPs), and MSK clinicians.
