Community Dental Services CIC is looking to appoint a community dental fellow who identifies with our values as a social enterprise and is passionate about providing care for those most at need.
 
This role offers clinical experience in special care dentistry and paediatric dentistry, with a £10k educational training grant for a Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma with increased study leave entitlement (10 days per year for the duration of the PGCert/PGDip).
 
The primary objective of this post is to develop clinical skills and knowledge to support a career in special care dentistry. Clinical work will focus on community dentistry with opportunities to gain experience in paediatric and special care dentistry.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • Degree in Dental Therapy and Hygiene or equivalent.
  • ISACD Accreditation in Inhalation .
  • Sedation Exemption training for the supply and administration of medicine.
  • Ideally you will have a postgraduate certificate in dental education.
  • Trained to undertake inhalation sedation duties.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding issues.
  • Knowledge of current and future changes within the dental profession.
  • Significant and demonstrable experience working as a DCP to masters level or equivalent.
  • Skilled communication and experience in the management of patients with additional needs, paediatric patients and vulnerable adults. Experience of dental therapy/hygiene practice in different settings.
  • Post qualification experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear and accurate written skills.
  • Excellent behavioural management skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Competency in treating patients with inhalation sedation.
  • Ability to teach other dental registrant.
