About the Role
The Kelvedon and Feering Health Centre are seeking to recruit a medical secretary to join our well-established practice on a part-time basis, with working days being Tuesday and Wednesday each week.
 
Experience is desired as we need immediate cover, without any delays. We have an incredibly supportive administrative/reception team with good management systems in place.
 
Duties to include but not limited to:
  • Typing letters and medical referrals dictated personally from tasks or handwritten by clinicians, using the appropriate proforma, template or headed letter.
  • Referring via e-referrals system and other referral pathways.
  • Typing requested by the clinical team.
  • Typing all letters and medical referrals promptly, prioritising those marked as 2ww or urgent.
  • Contacting the appropriate consultant’s secretary/hospital when referrals/results need chasing or waiting times queried.
  • Emailing requests/queries anything that needs dealing with and sent urgently.
  • Any other secretarial duties requested by the doctor’s or management team.
About the Candidate
We would welcome applications from those with the following skills and experience:
  • Accurate touch-typing skills.
  • Strong administrative experience and good organisation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent general IT skills including MS Office and experience of working with a clinical system.
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

About Us
We are a busy practice and have a practice population of approximately 7,800 patients. Our CQC rating is ‘Good’.
